It’s been a while since I’ve written here. Life has been busy, and maintaining a personal website often falls to the bottom of the priority list. But today, I’m making a change.

The Old Site

My previous website was a bit of everything - a personal showcase, a project portfolio, and a blog. It was built with Jekyll (which I still love), but over time it became a bit unwieldy. The design was complex, and adding new content felt like a chore.

The New Direction

I’ve decided to simplify. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, I’m focusing on what matters most to me: writing. The new site is stripped down to its essentials - a clean, terminal-inspired design that puts the content first.

The AI Assistant

What’s different this time? I’m using Cursor, an AI-powered coding assistant, to help me maintain and evolve the site. It’s fascinating to work with an AI that understands both code and context. It’s like having a pair programmer who can:

  • Help refactor old code
  • Suggest modern best practices
  • Write new features
  • Even help write blog posts (like this one!)

The Future

I’m not sure where this will go, but I’m excited to have a simpler platform for sharing thoughts and ideas. The combination of Jekyll’s simplicity and AI assistance means I can focus on writing while the technical details are handled efficiently.

Here’s to new beginnings and the power of human-AI collaboration!

This post was written with the assistance of Cursor, an AI coding assistant. The ideas and direction are mine, but the AI helped with the structure and technical implementation of the new site.
